Eux Autres

1. Which book are you currently reading?

HEATHER: I’m currently reading Chronic City, the new novel from Jonathan Lethem. It’s about Manhattan, where I live.

NICHOLAS: Mount Analogue by René Daumal

2. Do you smoke?

HEATHER: No. I gave it up, and I don’t miss it one bit.

NICHOLAS: Nope. Never have...maybe one pack total in my life.

3. When was the last time you got angry?

HEATHER: Yesterday, when Nick and I were recording. We get angry with each other a lot, but we get over it very quickly.

NICHOLAS: Yesterday, when we were recording.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?

HEATHER: Two days ago, again with Nick. I said something so stupid it was hilarious. I laugh a lot in general. And when Nick and I are together, we laugh most of the time.

NICHOLAS: I think that happened a couple times in the recording studio over the last couple days.

5. Was there a movie that you could not bear to see until its end?

HEATHER: I think that would be Sixteen Candles. I’ve seen it more than any other movie. Or Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Not very intellectual, I know.

NICHOLAS: I just saw Funny People. It's at least 45 minutes too long...but I did watch it, so I guess that's not a very good answer.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?

HEATHER: Dottie from Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

NICHOLAS: I'd like to play one of the old men that sits in the balcony on the Muppet Show.

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?

HEATHER: Special Victims Unit.

NICHOLAS: I have no idea what the difference is. I only know that our dad is obsessed with one or more of these shows.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?

HEATHER: Lady Gaga. She is so weird.

NICHOLAS: The main character in the movie House of the Devil. Not sure what her name is.

9. What's the best moment of your day?

HEATHER: When I first wake up, and I pour myself some tea and hold the warm mug. I feel so hopeful and energized.

NICHOLAS: Drinking coffee in the morning. Right after it's started working its magic.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?

HEATHER: I’m proudest of Other Girls because it was one of the first songs we ever wrote. So it felt like a miracle.

NICHOLAS: I think that I like Queen Turner the best at the moment. Maybe just because it's a newer one.

Eux Autres play pop music. The band originally consisted of brother and sister Heather and Nicholas Larimer. Heather played drums, Nicholas played guitar, and they both sang.
Eux Autres write compact songs with sparse instrumentation. Their music has been unfairly described as “fun”...

Tormentor of Gorgoroth

1. Which book are you currently reading?
Ah, just finished reading Blood Meridian by Cormac MacCarthy. One of the best books I've ever probably.

2. Do you smoke?
Yes, but I don't have to. Means that I can smoke one day and don't have to take the next cigarette in a week or so.

3. When was the last time you got angry?
1,5 hours ago. Couldn't get a seat on the buss + a driver who drives like a maniac + listening to aggressive Swedish hardcore gods Skitsystem. Hanging after one arm in one of those handles cursing God and all his creations.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Watching the Hot Rod movie.

5. Was there a movie that you could not bear to see until its end?
A Lars Von Trier movie called Breaking the waves. The most sentimental piece of shit I've ever seen. I knew what was coming in the end, so I had to run.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
Taxidriver. Used to be one in fact.

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
No + no + no

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
Musically? The Devil's Blood. Got a fair chance of becoming the world's biggest satanic band.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
Running off from everything going fishing.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
Destroyer.

2. Do you smoke?
Xsmoker, postsmoker, rehabprefabsmoker

3. When was the last time you got angry?
I don't get angry I get even...vengeance is the best medicine

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Whenever I get tickled to death

5. Was there a movie where you could not bear to see the end?
Funny Games (most films have Hollywood endings so you know it's going to be ok anyway
and no one dies cause the contracvts are ready for the sequel, and when they die there's the prequel)

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
Autobot

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
Criminal Intent, the detective is unsettling

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
No one in particular, everyone in general. Women back from their summer holidays for a few weeks retain a unique radiancy that slowly fades as fall comes. I love observing them from a distance. Their cololrs, their dresses, their hair, their moment of splendor ...like sunflowers.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
8-10 am, everything is calm, the sun still doesn't scorch, it's all quiet...then the day starts and we must be productive. Time to go back to sleep.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
The one I still have to write, and may never write

2. Do you smoke?

3. When was the last time you got angry?
I was mad at someone today for leaving a relationship at a really wrong time and with no consideration for the children involved.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
I can’t remember. Oh dear... Yesterday I was so happy that I cried but I did not laugh.

5. Was there a movie that you could not bear to see until its end?
I usually love sci-fi fantasy films but earlier this week we were watching "The Snow Queen" and it was so horrible that we stopped watching it after about 15 minutes.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
Giulietta in "I Capuleti e I Montecchi" by Bellini. The aria “O quante volte” is so heartbreaking to me.

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
Are those television shows?

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
I have serious musical crushes on Chris Thile, Beth Ditto and Colin Stetson.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
If I have woken up from having a particularly interesting dream, I love to lay in bed as I snuggle with my sleeping husband and think about the dream while the day is still quiet outside.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
“The Gentlest Gentleman”

Grandaughter of an Epiphone-playin-travelin-evangelist, fathered by a National Accordion Champion & mothered by a pianist, Shara Worden was born into a house of diverse musical aesthetics. Her first song was written at age 3 using the buttons of a toy cash register for "piano keys." By age 8 she was studying piano with her uncle, Donald Ryan, and singing in community musical productions.
Shara graduated from The University of North Texas with a BA in Vocal Performance. After university, she self-released a solo album entitled Word, then moving to Brooklyn, NY recorded two albums (The Orange Album, Quiet B Sides) with her band Awry. From 2001-2003 Shara studied composition with Australian composer/performer Padma Newsome (The Clogs, The National). During this time she composed music for a musical theater production Women With Voices Ringing (produced by Jaki Brown-Karmen), an off-broadway production of Adam Rapp's play Trueblinka directed by Simon Hammerstein, as well as Hammerstein's production of Jean Paul Sartre Morts sans Sepulture.
In late 2003 Shara assembled her dream cast of characters to create the sound of My Brightest Diamond. My Brightest Diamond has released two albums, Bring Me The Workhorse (2006) and A Thousand Shark's Teeth (2008).
Shara has collaborated with David Byrne, The Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Laurie Anderson, Bon Iver, St. Vincent, Bryce & Aaron Dessner.
In 2009 Shara moved to Detroit, Michigan to live in a creaky old house and tend bees.

Georgeanne Kalweit

1. Which book are you currently reading?
La Vita Facile, Sillibario (The Easy Life, the ABCs) by Italian Poet Alda Merini who left us just last week.

2. Do you smoke?
Sometimes.

3. When was the last time you got angry?
When a person I've known in the music business for many years asked me to be part of a collaboration and then turned out to be totally unreliable.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
When my sister told me about a conversation she had had with our mother. It went like this: our almost 80 year old mother, and quite a lovely lady at that, said she was looking for a new wrinkle cream and my sister said she knew of one called "acceptance" (meaning, just accept the damn wrinkles at this point) and our mother replied "oh really? I've never heard of it, where can I buy it?" Vanity is last to die!

5. Was there a movie that you could not bear to see until its end?
Apocalypto, far too violent and gory for my taste.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
None comes to mind.

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
None of the above, I watch very little TV and have never seen any of these shows.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
I've had a crush on boyfriend ever since I met him 5 years ago!

9. What's the best moment of your day?
When my dog and I greet each other first thing in the morning in this beautiful ritual of bowing to each other, then the walk in the open field together, come rain come shine, with a fresh mind, where I get to imagine what the day holds and then...coffee!

10. What song and what drawing of yours do you think are your best?
I am particularly fond of the title song "Around the Edges" of our soon to be released album of my new group Kalweit and the Spokes, with drummer Leziero Rescigno and guitarist Giovanni Calella. The lyrics trace the story of how I feel after almost 20 years of living in Italy, yet still feeling part of my native land, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
As for the drawing I like best: Granbar. This painting expresses the solitude of the lonely traveller in a bar that once existed in the Milan Central Station which has disappeared, like so many characteristic places in light of globalization...

Visual artist and vocalist Georgeanne Kalweit was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1964 and currently resides in northern Italy. Georgeanne first moved to Italy in 1986 to study Art History in Florence. In 1990 she graduated from the University of Minnesota in Painting, Print-making and Art History. From 1997-2000 she worked as art instructor at the Los Angeles County Museum, the Barnsdall Art Park and for the Los Angeles Unified Schools. Georgeanne paints figurative oil paintings as well as mixed media pieces created out of recycled images and objects, multi-layered compositions of a social-political nature which are full of extremely colorful details with a slight Central American Art Influence, a mix between Pop and Psychedelia, ironic and playful at the same time. She has exhibited in Florence, Milan, Mantova, Parma, Lodi, Stresa and Verbania, Italy, London, Los Angeles and Minneapolis.

10. What doll of yours do you think is your best?
Oh, I can’t pick. I love them all the same. I can tell you which doll is the happiest.. Azaeleah, she has no idea anything other than sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows exist. She’s got the right idea!

Long obsessed with the whimsical side of traditional fairy tales, artist & storyteller Christy Kane creates life size, one-of-a-kind, handmade dolls then photographs them in antique settings to illustrate her original stories. Her dolls have remarkably distinct personalities, her photographs are nuanced and richly detailed, and her stories are haunting and unforgettable. Her first book “Tales of the Sisters Kane” is now available. With the help of the Chiodo Bros. (Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Vincent, Team America) she created a live puppetry version of her tale “Callalilly" which won runner up for Most Visually Innovative Short Film at the 2008 Baltimore Women’s Film Festival. She is currently working on “Tales of the Sisters Kane Book II” and her next short film.

Adam Hashemi

1. Which book are you currently reading?
Dreamwatcher by Theodore Roszak. He's the author of one of my favourite books, Flicker. Also just started reading Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond, and will soon read The Swarm by Frank Schätzing.

2. Do you smoke?
Yes.

3. When was the last time you got angry?
I was very angry ten minutes ago. Besides from then, never.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
OK, this wasn't the last time, but it's the most interesting time: I was playing basketball with a friend. Suddenly I hear a strange whizzing-sound and a black cat crashes down on my friends head, falling from the fifth floor. The cat lies dead on the ground, and miraculously, my friend is alright. He stares at the cat, and then at me and exclaims: "I just got a cat in the head". There's a short pause, then we both fall down on the ground laughing, probably releasing a lot of tension from the shock (I would never laugh at a thing like that normally, I had a cat of my own at the time). At that moment, the owner of the cat looked out of her window to see her dead cat, and my friend and I laughing until we cried.
This happened where I grew up, a building that was later renowned for its many cat suicides.

5. Was there a movie that you could not bear to see until its end?
Quite a lot of movies actually. Among them was Pasolini's Oedipus. The screeching solo flute soundtrack was driving me crazy.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now. Or Colonel Sandurz in Spaceballs.

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
Those are shows right? I'm more in to ol' school Sopranos and True Blood.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
That would have to be my girlfriend Stine, who's the funniest person I know.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
There's so little routine in my days that it's hard to talk about a favourite part. I like watching a good movie after doing my writing. When I feel like I've earned the right. If I don't feel I've earned the right, I watch a bad movie.

10. What film of yours do you think is your best?
I guess it would have to be my recent music vid 'Swim' for Oh No Ono. I'm constantly seeking a balance in my filmmaking, between seriousness and a grotesque form of comedy, and that video is the closest I've gotten. So far.

Lesli Wood of The Redwood Plan and Saeta

1. Which book are you currently reading?
Salman Rushdie: Midnight's Children

2. Do you smoke?
Yes but I consider myself having "quit".

3. When was the last time you got angry?
Yesterday.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Probably Saturday. I do this often.

5. Was there a movie where you could not bear to see the end?
Definitely. I will not sit through a terrible movie, I'll leave first. I almost couldn't bear to watch the end of Dancer in the Dark but not because it was terrible - just because I thought my heart was going to break into a million pieces.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
Hmm. I'm not sure I could narrow it down. If it's a movie, probably someone that got to do cool stunts...

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
Are these tv shows? Or just concepts? I'm not familiar with the tv shows (if that's what they are) so I think I'll just have to say "Criminal Intent" as it's a pretty good answer to a question.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
Definitely the person I've been waking up to every day. And maybe a little one on my cat, but that's weird.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
Waking up to that person. And then riding my bike. Unless of course I'm playing a show then the show is always the best moment of my day.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
A Million Reasons Why.

Lesli Wood is the singer/guitarist/keyboardist for Seattle band, The Redwood Plan. She also performs with chamber pop trio, Saeta, and formerly fronted the riot grrl band, Ms. Led.

Kathy R. Jeffords

1. Which book are you currently reading?
In my ideal world, I would have a full day each week to just lay around and read, because I do love it so. I started "Step, Ball, Change" by Jeanne Ray a few weeks ago, but got so busy it wound up abandoned after chapter two.

2. Do you smoke?
No.

3. When was the last time you got angry?
Probably when someone showed up at my home without calling first. That’s one of my biggest pet peeves. I joke that one day, I will own a house with a moat. (Not anti-company, necessarily, just pro-appointment.)

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
I didn’t cry, but I almost wet my pants, does that count? My sister and I tried to make an America’s Funniest Home video moment by calling my brother-in-law at work and telling him we were going to run errands, moving our cars from their parking spaces, and then hiding in the house (specifically the shower in the upstairs bathroom) to make strange noises and scare him when he came home for lunch. While we planned the stunt, and then when he came in non-chalantly whistling, we laughed like hyenas – I’m surprised no ribs were broken in the process.
(For the record, we made strange noises for about ten minutes – only getting a not-really-interested “hey, what’s going on up there?” from him before I got paranoid that he’d called the cops or was about to attack us with a baseball bat and we came out from hiding and went downstairs... to find him calmly eating a sandwich, unbothered and unconcerned.)

5. Was there a movie that you could not bear to see until its end?
Not a movie, but the short summer CBS murder mystery series’ Harper’s Island – on one hand, I couldn’t wait to the end because I was just dying (pun not intended) to know who the killer was, but on the other hand, I didn’t want it to end and didn’t want to know who the killer was, because I was so invested in all of the characters (who were still alive) by that point and didn't want any of them to be the killer. It was a great, underrated (though gory) show.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
One of the Golden Girls. They’re all awesome in their own way, so I couldn’t choose: Any of them. (Though I am probably most like Dorothy.)

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
I’ve actually never seen any of these – am actually usually more of a medical drama girl.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
Adam Lambert and David Cook. I wanted to just name one, but choosing between them would be like choosing between pizza and chocolate. 9 times out of 10, given that choice, I’d say chocolate. But then I’d miss the pizza terribly and crave it all the time. (And, no, I’m not saying which is which, though I will admit I didn’t really pay much attention to David – despite my best friend being his biggest fan – until he joined Twitter. The way to my crushlist, apparently, is by being witty and using proper grammar and punctuation, even when limited to 140 characters!)

9. What's the best moment of your day?
When my sister, who lives several hours away from me calls & my 4 year old niece gets on the phone first hears my voice (or when I visit and she first lays eyes on me) and shouts, all excited, “KAAAATHY!!!!” It doesn’t happen everyday, but that’s my favorite moment of any day. You have no idea how important and loved that reaction makes me feel!

10. What painting of yours do you think is your best?
Well, I truly believe practice makes perfect and that with every painting, I get a little bit better --- looking back at some of my early stuff just makes me cringe now! So, though I could probably pick a personal favorite, I HOPE that my best so far is the last one I painted. Right now, that one would be “Family Portrait”, which is of my version of Frankenstein, his bride, and mummy baby.

Kathy R. Jeffords grew up wanting to be a novelist, majored in theatre in college, and somehow wound up being an artist. She paints bright and whimsical paintings of big-eyed girls (and occasionally boys and critters) but couldn’t abandon her love of stringing words together altogether --- most of her work has a story to go along it or incorporates quotes or phrases within the actual piece.

2. Do you smoke?
Never, I'm allergic to it.

3. When was the last time you got angry?
In Singapore when we were in the elevator with an elderly woman and as soon as the doors opened a very rude man walked right in and bumped into her without even apologizing as she was trying to get out. I was so angry, no manners, no common decency, I was so angry that its a good thing my brother in law was there to yell at him or else I would have.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
"UP"! I couldn't contain myself, the stork short was the funniest thing I've seen since Big Man Japan!

5. Was there a movie that you could not bear to see until its end?
It toke all my will power to stay and watch the full movie "Amistad", it was such a brutal view of the worst of humanity, I had a hard time watching through all my tears.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
If i could play a character I'd be Kagome from "Inuyasha" so that I could finally end their confusion and plant a kiss on that dog boy!

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
I don't watch TV and I'm not a fan of these kind of shows, I'm more of an Entourage and "True Blood" kind-a-girl.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
My wonderful boyfriend. My heart races and I still get giddy when I see him.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
Nap time!

10. What drawing of yours do you think is your best?
Hmmm I think the drawing of the Neil Gaiman print "How to Talk to Girls at Parties" (official title is "Angry Universe") is one of my best.

When my pc was gone with part of precious demos and records.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Too much time ago, I can’t remember.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?

9. What's the best moment of your day?
"..At night when stars light up the sky..."

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
With Lolita Terrorist Sounds I always think the next song that I will compose (I always demand the best from my-self), with my other band Viti di Titanio (Titanium Screws) I’m proud of my drum beat played on “Naguine”.

Maurizio Vitale has been in the limelight for last few years with projects and live and studio teamworks running through the most varied music genres.
Lolita Terrorist Sounds doesn’t want to be hostage to the dictates of musical styles, to the need of composing music following traditional rhythmical movements and tonalities, it doesn’t want to be considered a music based exclusively on noise. Wants to be noisy, dissonant, atonal, discordant and mocking at the melody, but at the same time melodious, tonal, harmonious when required.
Viti di Titanio (Titanium screws) combine Anglo-Saxon origin sonority with the musicality and the auteur song based on Italian and Mediterranean tradition. The arrangements are notable for the deconstruction of the guitar playing, the experimentation and the noise, but the band also give space to the song in its classic manner and compose melodious vocal structures that successfully convey the messages of the musical compositions. The accurate and poetic wording of the lyrics, makes the songs hermetic, but the directness of the refrains soften the inscrutability.

Nanami Cowdroy

1. Which book are you currently reading?
"The Brain That Changes Itself" - although to tell the truth, I'm definitely more a picture book person! I find the act of reading quite tiring (and personally) a little tedious for me, as I have a tendancy to try and over imagine everything ... every description & detail ... so I find myself reading the same pages over and over - which makes me impatient and exhausted. I guess to enjoy the act of reading, my brain has to change itself. That said, I LOVE looking through Art books and right now it's "Dali : Liquid Desire" - to me a painting / picture does speak a thousand words and inspires a thousand more ideas, which I can create the my own details for.

2. Do you smoke?
Hardly... (promise)

3. When was the last time you got angry?
Earlier today... but Being a half-Japanese, compulsive Capricorn head-case, I actually believe it's the angst which holds me together.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Watching a crazy You Tube post titled 'The dramatic Lemur Original'... mind you, I did have few drinks prior to, and it was a friends fit of giggles which became contagious to those around at the time, beers in hand.

5. Was there a movie that you could not bear to see until its end?
The Exorcist - a vehicle for a perpetual state of fear & anxiety. In fact if memory serves, I don't think I even came close to the ending as I couldn't even bear the beginning. My memories of that film are totally disjointed and blurry as it became a film watched through clasped hands and fingers.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
'Alice' in Wonderland, 'Chihiro' in Spirited Away -or- Captain Nemo to see the bottom of the ocean, and that Giant Squid!

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
Same, same BUT different ... (The Family Guy versions are quite witty).

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
The work of Salvador Dali, I just arrived back from Melbourne after seeing the exhibition there at the National Gallery of Victoria - and it blew my mind! Even though I have always been a great fan / admirer of his work for as long as I can remember... to go and see it in person, from his small early sketches, to his famous painted canvases & sculptures, films and jewelry ... it fires up the passion, imagination and love of his works.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
When my flat white coffee is ready, I have a blank piece of paper in front of me, a window of time and a semi-sharpened pencil :)

10. What painting of yours do you think is your best?
I don't really have a favourite to be honest - as creating Art allows me a creative outlet for expressing my thoughts and feelings. That said, some pieces inparticular I feel pretty attached to is 'Cable Cranes' and 'Tsuru'... I created them at a difficult time in my life, after my father passed away - so they embody a lot of feelings and memories. Works of mine which contain Origami cranes in them, for me has personal significance as they remind me of dad... so I guess it's just my small way of keeping his memory alive and well, and hopefully he would dig it.

Nanami Cowdroy was born in Sydney, Australia with close bonds to her mixed Japanese-European heritage. Growing up with such contrasting cultures and surroundings, has greatly influenced her style of art and creative expression.
By intertwining complex characters and highly detailed objects, her pieces reflect a juxtaposition between foreign and familiar entities and environments. Her imagination is illustrated through works that are both elaborate and exotic, suggesting themes of memory, transience, hope, and loss.
She is drawn to subjects, which may on the surface seem delicate or fragile, but are given depth and a sense of permanence through her pen and ink techniques, intricate hand illustrative style and mixed media compositions.
A self-taught artist, her meticulous signature style embraces a refined monochrome palette with her name 'Nanami' (meaning 'Seven Seas' in Japanese) stamped in red. Fluid line-work, spots and splatters, watery whimsical creatures and Goldfish are some of her favourite subjects, and distinctive forms featured in her emotional artworks.

Stza Crack of Leftover Crack and Star Fucking Hipsters

1. Which book are you currently reading?
Hard-boiled wonderland & the end of the world by Haruki Marikami

2. Do you smoke?
Yes, unfortunately, but not a lot...

3. When was the last time you got angry?
I can't rightfully remember, perhaps a year ago when I threw a dozen donuts at a dozen cops here in NYC, I've been trying to be the patient grass-hopper, but I was really drunk on that one & they were messing with our free-speech by trying to set up legal precedents that would have had out-door political events at a decibel level too quiet to be heard over the cities ambient noise (ie: traffic, more than 25 people having a hushed conversation). It was being set at the level of a vacuum cleaner at 75 feet away (& out-doors).

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Yesterday, mi amiga Vaquita always makes me laugh heartily...

5. Was there a movie where you could not bear to see the end?
Only because most films are terribly formulaic & dull. I usually walk out after 15-20 minutes of a bad film though, you can usually tell what you're in for by then.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
"Frick" in "a Scanner Darkly" (the Philip K.Dick semi-animated adaption). He's a drug-addict scared of his own shadow. That's just off the top of my head though.

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
I don't watch any of those dull, formulaic, commercial heavy network T.V. shows. I really liked "The Wire".

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
Mos Def.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
When I finally fall asleep & am unconscious for as long as possible.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
I like how "soon we'll be dead" came out from "Fuck World Trade".

Stza Crack grew up in NYC, have been living in squats for the past 18 years mostly in the U.S. has been battling for free-speech & equal rights for everybody, regardless of race, color, creed, sex, national heritage, religious preference, sexual preference or disposition in society, mostly as the primary singer/guitarist & song writer for No Commercial Value, Choking Victim, Leftover Crack & Star Fucking Hipsters.

Billy Atwell of th' Inbred and Rhythm Pigs

1. Which book are you currently reading?
It's more like book(s). I'm in school to become a Certified Massage Therapist so Thibodeau & Patton's "Structure & Function of the Body" is in there. Because I'm launching a new concurrent career outside of music with the final certification of my CMT program I'm hoping not to make the same business-minded mistakes I made as a musician by reading books by Larry Winget and Brian Tracy. For the Zen I'm rereading Chogyam Trungpa's "Training The Mind and Cultivating Loving Kindness". Kicks my ass every time. And just to keep a certain level of intensity handy if and when I need it, Henry Rollins' new book "A Preferred Blur". I've read all of his books. Once a punk, always a punk but mostly treating the Henry's written word as yardsticks for personal development and determination beyond the average.

2. Do you smoke?
I was a bit of a cigar aficionado up until my 43 birthday this year. Seeing as how I'm in a quasi-medical/health-related field I figured it was pretty hypocritical to be downing them as I was on long rides to weekend gigs so...that was that. Plus Larry Winget's direct and abrasive opinions on smoking, health in general and the wake of stupidity people roll around in had a strong arm effect that was unavoidable incentive to quit. SMOKING KILLS PEOPLE. It's that simple. I'm also looking at what the physiology of oxygen intake into the bloodstream looks like on a molecular level in school, let alone what the tissues of the mouth and throat go through with even 100% natural, non-man made leaves. Tobacco carcinogens get in your body in a severely ugly way. Seriously.

3. When was the last time you got angry?
And lost it? I don't need to air my dirty laundry because I always contribute something to whatever happened in some way however small (the cause of what generates said anger). You punk yourself when you lose your s**t. "He who curbs his anger is a true charioteer. Others merely hold the reigns" - Buddhist Proverb. These days I get angry at myself for having angry thoughts. I try to meditate on the side of right and do whatever is necessary with my resting heart rate in tact. That way I keep myself and others from harm's way and make the Gods smile. I laugh pretty hard too if only knowing that calm, cool and collected trips people up alot more that boiling like a kettle or jackknifing like an 18 wheeler.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Remember that old country song by Connie Smith? "Once a day, every day, all day long..." That will change shortly though. In due time, in due process.

5. Was there a movie where you could not bear to see the end?
I know it's been awhile but had I have known that "Leaving Las Vegas" was going to be the bummer it was I'm not sure I would have paid the admission. Profound film but the stain it left on my psyche for weeks after caught me off guard. Please don't tell me you thought I'd say "Titanic"!

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
In what? "Leaving Las Vegas"? Nothing vicarious I could glean from that but I would love to have been Forest Whitaker in "Ghost Dog". That would have been some good Jungian shadow play. It'd be cool to be in Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriquez film. Something Sam Shepard wrote...

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
Not a TV guy at all but I have watched an episode or 3 of "Law & Order" at my parent's house while visiting in WV just because it was20on and I was flipping through accumulated periodicals.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
My daughter. She's my hero. Having a daughter gives you someone to take care of and love in the truest sense.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
There are two specific ones that come to mind. One in the morning and one in the evening. Reading to my daughter every night that my schedule allows and the kiss from her in the morning that wakes me up. In a global way the whole day is pretty awesome. I'm either learning or applying things with better skill. I like my grey and am blazing to an apex that is still years away. It's something to look forward to.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
As a solo artist it'd be tough because the music is so eclectic. For now I'd say "She Still Sleeps Here" off of my 2007 CD, "Dos". It gets to the heart of a my writing style with elements of shadow and light...drop-tuned bombast and aching, lapsteel melodies. Regarding the new Alternative Tentacles reissue of th' Inbred it'd be tough picking "The One" because you have to consider the humor or the hostility. There are shining moments of both. Humor? "The Positive Song". Hostility? "Piss Test".

Billy Atwell blasted away in various rock outfits (th' Inbred/Rhythm Pigs). He has also explored musical venues for the stage, from Shakespeare to New York revivals of the musicals HAIR (1998) and GODSPELL (2000) with significant side trips into the eclectic and avant-garde.
Currently, Atwell is seeking to expand his presence into the venue of “filmic sound-scapes”. These mediums include art installations, actual movies, video game scores, and more projects as inventive as SAFFRON.

Dave: Every time I drive, hear Lou Dobbs talk, see people drop trash on the street, think about religion, run out of coffee. I guess I'm angry a lot.

Sissi: When I flip the channels and come across Bill O'Reilly.

Tom: I never get angry. I keep it all bottled up deep inside until it erupts as back acne or carbunkles on my feets. Sometimes butterflies hover around me.

Michael: Shit. I have two boys, three years old and a four years old. When was the last time I wasn't angry. Hm. I guess that actually predates my progeny.

Stephen: Dick Chaney

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?

Tom: When I was reading the Bible written by God and the Moabites were all like talking shit and acting tough and then God smote their sorry asses with pestilence and frogs and shit. I was like, oh snap, no you didn't, but he did.

Michael: Local menu misspelling: Spaghetti Bologrease.

Stephen: It was from an email Tom sent us [speaking] with a British accent.

5. Was there a movie where you could not bear to see the end?

Dave: Definitely - Bug, with Ashley Judd. Freaky, depressing, gross.
Couldn’t make it to the end.

Sissi: Any and all Barbie movies.

Tom: No

Michael: Looking for Mr. Goodbar.

Stephen: Dr. Strangelove

6. What character would you have liked to have played?

Tom: Willie Loman in "Death of a Salesman Part 2, the Metal Years"

Stephen: Dr. Strangelove

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?

Dave: Never seen either one.

Sissi: Criminal Intent & Special Victims Unit

Tom: Special K with half a banana or some nice berries.

Michael: Pop a Tent

Stephen: None of the above

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?

Dave: Um, my wife. And Ségolène Royal.

Sissi: Tom & Waits

Tom: Do you mean me and Tom Waits or just Tom Waits and you threw the "&" in there to confuse me? I like Barbie in Frutopia.

Michael: Definitely Tom Waits

9. What's the best moment of your day?

Dave: First coffee in the morning.

Sissi: When our son comes for a cuddle in the mornings.

Tom: When the butterflies come and hover. Sometimes they sing 'Last Ticket to Paradise' by Eddie Money in sweet tiny voices.

Michael: God I'm so unoriginal, but that first cup of coffee consistently rates up there.

Stephen: When my honey cuddles me in the morning. Or The first toke of the day. It depends.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?

Sissi: Chickendoor

Tom: The Puny & Revolting Men of Advertising Smile

Michael: Egg

Stephen: Fun to play: My Life's a Mediocre Piece of Shit.

Dave: Everything on the new record. Really.

Barzin

1. Which book are you currently reading?
--Irrational Man by William Barrett
--The Oresteia by Aeschylus
--In the Skin of a Lion by Michael Ondaatje

2. Do you smoke?
Yes

3. When was the last time you got angry?
Yesterday, when I was driving.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
When I was on tour in Europe this past Spring. Something about being in a small van with a group of people that makes you go a little.... crazy.

5. Was there a movie where you could not bear to see the end?
I've seen some amazing films lately, but I don't recall not watching any of them all the way through. I think the last time that happened I must have been around 6 or 7 years old, and I was watching Rocky II. I couldn't watch the end of film, which was the big boxing match the movie had been building up to. I stopped the film and went to the bathroom. I thought I was going to be sick.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
Rocky

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
I use to be a fan Law & Order, but only the early episodes. I am not a fan of the new and slick entity that it has become.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
The girl who works at the local bank down the street.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
It seems to change. Not something I can predict.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
Soft Summer Girls

Slow and melancholic, introspective and confessional: These words in some ways describe the sound of Barzin.

Jon Weisnewski of Akimbo

1. Which book are you currently reading?
Methland. It's about meth.

2. Do you smoke?
No. Smoking is dumb.

3. When was the last time you got angry?
When I thought about how dumb smoking is just now.

4. When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
Monday night. The story is boring. Not gonna tell it.

5. Was there a movie where you could not bear to see the end?
When I was a little kid, I would cry at the end of Godzilla 1985 when they tricked him into jumping into a volcano. That shit is pretty unbearable for a little kid who loves monster movies.

6. What character would you have liked to have played?
The drunk hobo who gets crushed by Godzilla in slow motion. Or Godzilla.

7. "Law & Order", "Special Victim Unit" or "Criminal Intent"?
24.

8. Who do you currently have a crush on?
The correct answer is "Maria" who is my girlfriend of five and a half years, but the honest truth is that crushes don't factor in when you're together for that long. Romance is dead, we just watch TV now. Joan from Mad Men is the closest thing I have to a crush.

9. What's the best moment of your day?
Getting blinded by the Xbox 360 splash screen on my 52" HDTV.

10. What song of yours do you think is your best?
Our new album Jersey Shores is one big song broken up into 6 tracks. That's my best song.

Hungrily devouring the corpses of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and The Who; dissecting the still quivering bodies of Black Flag and The Jesus Lizard; infusing the essence of the still beating heart of The Melvins...
